The Green Monster – http://www.writingaboutrunning.com
After the confetti has been cleaned up and my tiara has been placed carefully into storage, I will embark on another first for me… Training for the Gate River Run. I’m so excited for this one, too. I’ve worked this event several years at the finish line and I’ve seen a lot of people finish, but quickly run off and puke. Some were right next to where I was standing. I had learned to climb my truss when the fast folks come through. I am determined to NOT be one of them.
I have set my goal for 9’45” pace definitely. I know that I can go faster but bridges are a real concern! Below is my training schedule and you’re probably noticing that the paces are slower. I plugged in my race time from my first half marathon and this is what SmartCoach from http://www.runnersworld.com calculated. I’ve gotten pleasantly faster, but I’m still scared of getting hurt. (What can I say? Mommy of three has to be responsible!) I think I’ll post actual pace times after the run so you can see and evaluate my training. Whatdoyasay?
Any of you running this great race in my hometown? Let me know. Maybe I’ll see you there? Happy running!
