It’s going to be a cold one tomorrow! The meteorologists are saying high 20s! Holy shiitake mushrooms!!!
How did I prep today? Mentally, I’m looking at this as another long training run but it just happens to be the longest I’ve ever run in my running career! Lol! I went over to my parents’ for lunch and my dad fixed me a huge plate of sunny-side-up eggs and rice, a banana, and some fried chicken skin (that was the best part!).
I’ve been drinking at least 2-4 ounces of water every hour to keep hydrated, especially now since I have a freaking head cold and sound like Jessica Rabbit/Rachel Ray. Yes, people do like it but I’m singing like a frog. Ugh.
For dinner, my hubby bought me a oven roasted chicken sub on WHITE bread. I don’t want to have any BM accidents! 😉
Attire? That’s a difficult question to answer. I’ve never run in low temperatures like this. I think running tights are in order (don’t knock them until you try them), and my compression sleeves will help keep the calves warm. A running tank will serve as under garments with two long sleeves shirts to cover me up. I’m still trying to decide whether or not to wear my running wind breaker. It’s very light and I can tie it around my waist when it gets hot. My sister also bought me some ear warmers. I’m wearing my water belt and packing gummy worms for energy. I’ll wear my iPhone in my armband and I’ll wear my favorite earbuds.
I’m going with my Asics Nimbus 14 for this run. They are lighter than my Brooks Ghost 4 and I think my legs will thank me after the race.
What am I bringing in my race bag? My ID, my credit card, more gummy worms and my after-the-race PB Power Bar.
When am I going to sleep? Around 9 or 10 tonight.
The race is at 7am, and it takes about 20 minutes to get there, it takes about thirty minutes to digest my breakfast, and I’d like to be there 15 minutes before the race. That means I need to leave my house at 6:20am and finish eating by 5:50am. So it looks like I can wake up around 5:30-5:45am. Did you follow me?
I hope that you get out and enjoy Thanksgiving morning like I am with my sister and my friends. Thanksgiving is about spending time with loved ones that you’re thankful to have in your life. I’m also thankful that I’m able to enjoy running (thank you, God), and especially for a supportive family and husband! I am definitely running with them in my heart! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Good luck and have fun! Happy thanksgiving!
