Hook, Line, and Sinker. I’m Officially a runDisney Addict.

You got me, Mickey. You got me.

You got me, Mickey. You got me.

I finished the Princess Half-Marathon not even two weeks ago and what do I do?  I sign up for the next half-marathon on the runDisney event calendar: the 5th Annual Wine and Dine Half Marathon, that’s what I do.  Why, you ask?  Well, I made the mistake of taking the kids to the last Expo and I wasn’t able to look and take my time and enjoy the hours before my race.  I also enjoyed the energy of the other runners and the sights and sounds were so magical.  Who wouldn’t love running through Cinderella’s Castle with 19,000 other princesses who also enjoy a nice run?  I wanted another chance.  Mickey cast his line and hooked me, and  apparently I’m not the only one he caught.

In only 27 hours after open registration, the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon was SOLD OUT.  I registered two hours into the open registration and the race was already 62% full.  Holy cow.  I have to thank the Lord for making my fellow runner/co-worker/friend for pestering me to register SEVERAL times when registration opened.  (He’s also a veteran runDisney runner.  Mickey got him too.)  I have to also thank my husband for funding and supporting my Disney running addiction.

Yikes! This race sold out FAST!

It’s going to be different this time.  We will not be bringing the kids.  If you’re not familiar with this race, it starts at 10PM, which is the opposite of the Princess EARLY MORNING Half Marathon.  Then there’s the After Party, which starts immediately after the race and on to 4 o’clock the next morning.  Yes, my husband and I will be wining and dining and riding rides at Epcot until we are stuffed and have satisfied our Disney Side.  The route is also different from the Princess.  It’s not a loop!

Last year's Wine and Dine route. It will probably be the same this year.

I think I’m seeing why this race sold out so fast.  Wining, dining, no fast passes necessary at Epcot, running through Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and finishing up at Epcot at NIGHT!  I can sleep the whole day before!  Incredible, and I can’t wait.  Damn you, Mickey.  Why are you so awesome?  Did Mickey reel you in too?  Were you one of the lucky ones to register?  Yes, or no…  CHEERS and HAPPY RUNNING!!!
